If there’s one thing you could start doing today to improve your health, would you do it?
The one thing that you can start doing today which will have a big impact on your health is this:
Eat More Fat.
Yes you got that right.
Contrary to what the food pyramid, the food industry, mother and child centres, commercials etc tell us, we need to eat fat.
The whole world has been led to believe we need to eat low-fat.
If a product says ‘low fat’ we think we are doing the right thing.
But why are so many people overweight?
Why do you think you eat healthy but you still feel hungry, light headed, crappy and cranky? Craving for quick food fixes all the time?
It is because of the ‘low fat’.

We do need fat. Our bodies need fat to function properly. To produce hormones. To nourish the brain. To feel full and satisfied longer. To balance hormones. To keep a healthy metabolism going.
The best change I have made to my own way of eating a couple of years ago when I started my training at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition was to add more fat.
My mood is better.
I feel full longer.
My hormones are more balanced (less PMS!).
I feel focused and clear headed.
I have much more energy.
And the fun thing is, I lost weight doing it!
If you don’t believe me, read this blog post by Dr Mark Hyman 10 facts you need to know about fat.
Here are some sources of fat that you can start using.
- Nuts—walnuts, almonds, pecans, macadamia nuts
- Seeds—pumpkin, sesame, chia, hemp
- Fatty fish, including sardines, mackerel, herring, and wild salmon that are rich in omega-3 fats
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Grass-fed or sustainably raised animal products
- Extra virgin coconut butter
Come on, don’t be scared. I challenge you to start using it and notice how you feel.
